A different Chongqing in Light and Shadow Show

On December 29, 2023, the Second International Light and Shadow Art Festival and the Spring Lighting Launching Ceremony, organized jointly by the Chongqing Culture and Tourism Development Commission, Municipal Urban Management Bureau, People's Government of Jiulongpo District, and Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, officially premiered at Chongqing Fine Arts Park in Jiulongpo, Chongqing.

This event took the theme of "flowing light and shadow, art enhances life", by integrating "light and shadow art" into the "night scene of the mountain city", and created a unique art festival through the exhibition and display of art works and other activities. The artowrks dressed up the Jiulong Art Peninsula, including the Yangtze River Bay Area of culture and art, acting as the city's new business card, further enhancing the influence and competitiveness of Chongqing culture.

At the site of the festival, two 240-meter-high twin chimneys, were decked out in light and shadow; they were industrial sites left behind by the relocated Chongqing Power Plant. In front of the chimneys stood the newly constructed large screen building symbolizing the mountain city.

This building became the base for the 3D MAPPING competition (referred to as the "large-scale architectural light show"). From 18 countries and regions around the world, 25 professional MAPPING teams entered the final, of which 13 teams have had winning experience.

The gold medal prize was awarded to the Russian piece "Fabric" , other teams from China, Hungary, Spain were awarded silver and bronze medals.

From December 29, 2023 to January 7, 2024, Jiulongpo will organize and carry out more than 30 colorful cultural and tourism activities at the Jiulong Fine Arts Park Light & Shadow Festival site, including the 3D Mapping International Competition and Exhibition, Light & Shadow Art Show, Art Installation Exhibition, Graffiti Show, Photography Exhibition, Fashion Exhibition, Children's Art Exhibition, and the "Fireworks Peninsula" 1984 Light Gathering Bazaar. More than 30 colorful cultural and tourism activities will be held to open the cultural and tourism season of "Very Traveling - From Jiulongpo", with hopes of flourishing.

According to the official resources, from Decmber 29th 's launching ceremony up until February 2024, the Lantern Festival will encompass the central city as well as in residential neighborhoods, major roads, major nodes, key business districts and other areas. Spring Lanterns are hung in abundant fashion, as well as many Year of the Dragon Lantern ornaments in the "Two Rivers and Four Banks" riverside area. The committee is to arrange lighting art installations and 3D projections, with the intent of bringing holiday joy and cheer for all.
